How to Book Your Removal With Us

Our booking system is simple, so it is easy to arrange your move even if you don't yet have a moving date. Just call us or complete the online form. We will need to know:

  • The type of service you want. This could be a furniture removal, a full house move or an office move, for example.
  • The approximate size of the move, for instance the number of bedrooms in your current home.
  • Where you are moving to, so we can estimate the travel time once your belongings are loaded.
  • Whether you have any one-off items, such as works of art or pianos.
  • With that information, we will prepare a bespoke quotation setting out the full estimated cost.
  • If you wish to proceed, you pay a deposit to confirm your booking.

Book Your Parking in Advance

Wandsworth Council regulates parking in Battersea, and only the council can process applications to suspend parking restrictions when a bay is needed for a removals van. Applications must be submitted with at least five working days' notice, so it's worth applying early for your move in Battersea. The closer our van can park to the door, the quicker the job.

Battersea Home Relocation Checklist

Moving can be stressful, so it always helps to be prepared. That is why our home relocation checklist is worth having by your side in the weeks before your move in Battersea. With it, you will be far better organised when moving day arrives.

Battersea

Choose One of the Best Removal Companies in Battersea

Why choose us from all the removal companies in Battersea? Our professionalism speaks for itself, and our local knowledge is another good reason. For example, many professionals moving to Battersea's most vibrant spots, such as the Waterside Apartments in Nine Elms, want a fast service with no unnecessary delays. Families with pets and children may have different priorities. Either way, we can accommodate both. We can schedule evening moves to avoid disrupting the working day, or carry out moves while children are at school.

Just as importantly, Volition Removals covers your belongings for a value of up to £30,000 while they are in transit, on top of the £1m in public liability cover we also hold. Our fully trained, experienced operatives know what they are doing in a range of situations, and can handle special items such as glassware, precious ornaments or musical instruments.

We can also supply moving boxes, packing tape and bubble wrap so your possessions are fully protected. In the end, our aim is to make your move as smooth as possible, whether you have a large or small home.

Battersea

Why We Like Moving in Battersea

Battersea is a roughly triangular part of the Borough of Wandsworth, just south of the River Thames. As it sits within London Transport's Zone 2, it is popular with commuters, and it attracts many young families and professionals.

For families moving to Battersea's tree-lined Victorian streets, the main challenge is the stress of packing and organising a whole family's belongings. A full-service removals company can take much of that strain away. We receive plenty of praise for our work in Battersea, helping both families and professionals settle in quickly.

One of the area's main attractions is its closeness to so many of London's better-known amenities. The downside is heavy traffic on certain roads. The residential streets are often a peaceful contrast, letting locals and those in the know, like us, avoid the jams. That can be a real plus on moving day.

Battersea is also full of landmarks, some iconic, like the converted power station by the River Thames. Others include Battersea Arts Centre, housed in the old Grade II listed town hall. Battersea Park is one of the most underrated green spaces in all of London.

We like Battersea for many reasons, including:

  • Well connected to central London by road and rail
  • A strong sense of local community
  • Excellent housing stock with a blend of old and new

Battersea removals, frequently asked questions

How much does a removal in Battersea cost?

We charge a simple hourly rate rather than a fixed day rate, so you only pay for the time your move actually takes. One man and a van is £55 + VAT per hour, two men and a van £75 + VAT per hour, and three men and a van £95 + VAT per hour. As a guide, a typical two-bedroom move in Battersea takes around five to six hours including travel. For an accurate figure, ask us for a free no-obligation quote or a video assessment of your property.

How long will my move in Battersea take?

Most two-bedroom properties take two to three hours to load and one to two hours to unload, plus the driving time between the two addresses. Access makes a real difference: stairs, lifts and how far the van has to park from your door all add time. Tell us about both properties when you book and we will give you a realistic estimate rather than an optimistic one.

How much notice do you need to book a move in Battersea?

As much as you can give us, booking as soon as your date is confirmed is the surest way to get the slot you want. That said, we keep our schedule as flexible as we can and we regularly take on moves at a few days' notice, so it is always worth asking even if your date is close.

Do I need to book a parking bay suspension in Battersea?

If you have a driveway or off-street parking at both addresses, no. Otherwise we strongly recommend one: the closer the van can park, the faster the job goes and the less it costs you. Suspensions are arranged through the local council for Battersea and usually need several working days' notice, so apply as soon as your date is fixed, and remember to arrange one at the address you are moving to as well.

Are Volition Removals insured?

Yes. We carry £30,000 of goods-in-transit cover and £1m of public liability insurance as standard. If you are moving something worth more than the standard cover, tell us in advance and we will extend it for your job. Most household contents policies exclude damage in transit, which is exactly the gap this cover fills.

Do I need to be there on moving day?

No. Most customers prefer to be there, but we can carry out the whole move in your absence as long as we have access to both properties, keys, entry codes and alarm details arranged in advance. Tell us where things should go and we will unload into the right rooms.

Can you pack for me, and do you supply materials?

Yes. Packing is a standard service charged at the same hourly rate, and we can supply boxes, tape and protective materials ahead of the day. We can pack a whole property or just the awkward parts, kitchens, glassware and artwork are the usual candidates.

Do you dismantle furniture and disconnect appliances?

We dismantle and reassemble beds and flat-pack furniture as a matter of course, and we can build items for your new home too. Please disconnect washing machines and dishwashers, and defrost the fridge and freezer, the day before if you can. If you would rather not, ask us and a member of the team will do it on the day.

Is a man and van service big enough for a larger home?

Yes. We run 3.5t Luton box vans rather than small transit vans, and the service scales, for a larger property we simply put more crew and more vehicles on the job. Three- and four-bedroom houses are routine work for us.

Do you offer storage while I move?

Yes. Storage is useful when your dates do not line up, when you are downsizing, or when you would rather move in stages. We can store what you do not need immediately and deliver it on to your new address when you are ready for it.

Do you take a deposit, and when is the balance due?

We take a 25% deposit for domestic moves and 50% for business moves to secure your date. The balance is due on completion, once everything has been unloaded at your new address. We accept credit and debit cards.

Do you work weekends?

Yes. Weekend availability is more limited and is charged at a 10% surcharge, so a midweek move is usually better value, but if Saturday or Sunday is the only date that works, book early and we will do our best to fit you in.

What happens if I need to change or cancel my move?

Moving dates slip; we understand that. Change or cancel with 11 or more days' notice and there is no charge, if you cancel outright, your deposit is returned within 10 working days. With 10 days' notice or fewer, the deposit covers the booking we have held for you.
